THE DUALITY

The eclectic history of Yiyuan Road bears both official Chinese style and Western style character, where pitched roof and arches are in common scenes. In correspondence with the duality of the neighborhood’s architectural landscape, the proposal uses two symbolic gestures to form a highly recognizable contemporary icon. The diagonal dichotomous form provides shelter for waiting passengers on the outer side and the pixel wall and the interactive floor on the inner side are integrated into the life of the neighborhood. It combines the kids’ friendly function of the station and becomes an apt interpretation of the historical and cultural sense of Yiyuan Road.
